How Gulf Coast Turnaround is built
Gulf Coast Turnaround is an independent, free reference for craft workers who follow planned refinery and petrochemical shutdowns (turnarounds) across the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast. It brings together, in one place, the facts a traveling craftsman needs before mobilizing: which contractors run outage work, where the major plants are, which gate credentials are required, and when the outage seasons fall.
Who runs this site
The site is published and edited by Dot The World, an independent digital publisher. We are not an employer, recruiter, staffing agency, or contractor, and we are not affiliated with any company named on this site.
Where our information comes from
- Refinery locations and capacities: U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) Refinery Capacity Report, PADD 3, plus operator announcements.
- Contractor career links: each contractor’s own official website or the job portal it links to.
- Credentials: TSA (TWIC), the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils and its member councils (Basic Plus), and DISA Global Solutions.
- Outage timing: operator earnings guidance, public regulatory notices (for example, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality filings), and published industry news. Every outage item we publish names its source.
What we deliberately do not publish
- Which contractor works at which plant, unless a public source documents it. These relationships change from one outage to the next.
- Pay rates or per diem promises. Amounts vary by contractor, project, and distance; confirm them in writing with the employer.
- Rankings. The contractor list is unranked and is not an endorsement.

Update log
- 2026-10 — Reviewed all contractor career links: corrected the Performance Contractors, Zachry Group, and Starcon links, and replaced Triad Electric & Controls (no working official page found) with ISC Constructors. Removed unsourced contractor-to-refinery pairings. Marked the LyondellBasell Houston refinery as permanently closed (early 2025). Added this methodology page, a mobile menu, and illustrative images.
- 2026-09 — Site launched with contractor directory, refinery hubs, credential guide, and outage-season overview.
